When buying this item you need to select the model where the diameter (external) of this shaft spigot matches the internal dimension of the shaft it is going into. Small variations are ok but there needs to be a snug fit. You need to measure the internal diameter of your shaft as accurately as possible.

1. Shaft inside diameter must be known before choosing the spigot (Adjustment tube)
2. Shaft inside diameter can not be measured unless shaft is in two pieces or you have access to an open end (new paddle shaft).

Note that wall thickness of paddle shafts varies quite a lot across brands, materials and even models (e.g. our heavy duty fibreglass shaft (for white water) has a thicker wall thickness than the regular one foe standard flat water kayaking sea kayaking etc.)

i.e. you normally can’t measure outside and derive the internal size of your shaft from this measurement.
