Mad River Plastic Canoe Seat, Bow

The Harmony/  Mad River Roto Canoe Seat is a roto moulded canoe seat that  superb durability and surprising comfort. The seat bolts directly to the gunwale providing added stiffness to the canoe compared to seat that hand indirectly via hangars. The slightly dished seat is comfortable facing in either direction for fishing, conversation, or paddling solo (when paddling solo it is common to sit on the bow seat but facing towards the stern and paddle the canoe backwards). Paddling this was can help with the balance of the canoe keeping the water line more level on the hull especially in a lightly loaded canoe.

Light Grey Colour, these are tapered to fit the curve of the canoe gunwales with the bow seat being wider than the stern seat this seat is broader at the back and narrower at the front. Slightly dished with two drainage holes for a comfortable seat. This seat is comfortable and grippy (not slippery) and gives many years of use with no need for regular maintenance like other (wooden) seat options. Used by many types of paddlers it is ideal for fleets owned by schools, scouts, rental and hire companies because of their toughness, longevity and simplicity, especially where the users may be rough on their equipment.

It is easy to fit these seats as replacements seats on canoes that have had wooden seats fitted previously (wood and webbing or wood and cane). Simply remove the existing existing seats and seat hangers. Drill through the holes in the gunwales directly into the seats and fit nut and bolts through gunwale and seat. The bolt will need to be shorter than that used on a wooden seat and hanger but existing bolts can be cut to length to avoid excessive protrusions or a new hardware kit can be used.

This is the Bow or Front seat, and is by Mad River on many canoes including the Mad River Explorer 14 and 16 as well as the Journey 156. The Bow seat is wider than the Stern (rear) seat.
