Level Footbed®
We are most balanced with our feet flat on the ground. Our Level Footbed® allows the foot to stand, walk and run in a flatter, more balanced position. This design approach, also referred to as ‘zero drop’ allows the body to function in the way it was naturally designed.

Wide Toe Box
Our toes and feet are naturally designed to splay out from side-to-side, providing support and stability to our entire body. Traditional shoe designs prioritize looks over function and compress the toes, which limit their movement and therefore stability. We design our shoes with a wide toe box so your toes can splay naturally.

CHEMISTRY
The foundation of Astral’s shoes and sandal’s grip is a secret formula of chemistry they call G Rubber™. Unlike standard rubber compounds, G Rubber™ works exceptionally well with a variety of wet surfaces. There are two varieties of G Rubber™:

G.Ss Rubber™
Astral’s proprietary “Super Sticky” version of G Rubber™ is formulated for maximum gripping power and is non-marking and non-rigid.

G.15 Rubber™
Astral’s more durable proprietary compound increases abrasion resistance while still providing excellent grip on wet and dry surfaces. It is non-marking and conformable to the ground.

WATER READY™

Nature is wet. Astral couldn’t find any footwear that performed at the level they needed while seeking flow state experiences in the wilderness. So they began making their own.

Best When Wet

Astral footwear has a special relationship with water. Every ingredient, from the adhesive to the laces, is critically evaluated for its ability to endure constant soaking, shed / drain water, dry quickly, not accumulate funk and grip on wet surfaces.

LIGHTWEIGHT

Astral believe in light and fast. Water is heavy. Your equipment shouldn’t be. The first step in creating a Water Ready™ product is ensuring that every material is as light as possible while maintaining the necessary strength and durability to endure the harshest and wettest wilderness conditions.

QUICK DRY

We love getting wet. But staying wet is another matter. If you walk through pouring rain or ford a river, your feet and shoes will get wet. Instead of trying to tiptoe through ankle-deep streams, Astral design footwear built to be submerged and then dry quicker than you ever imagined.

QUICK DRAIN

Part of a shoe’s ability to dry quickly has to do with how well it can shed water out and away from your foot. A combination of drain holes, port flushes and materials like mesh and microscreens allow water and air to flow in and out, but prevent dirt and sand from entering

ANTI-FUNK

Turns out that even the cleanest of water begins to smell when it combines with textiles and body odor. We use naturally antimicrobial materials like closed-cell EVA foam, which sheds water and prevents the accumulation of funky odors, without the use of toxic chemical treatments.

GRIPPY WHEN WET

A slip on wet surfaces in the wilderness can have dire consequences. That’s why all Astral footwear features their proprietary, super sticky, G Rubber™ outsoles. Designed to grip exceptionally well, especially when wet.
