Kajak Sport Hatch Rim Round 20

This Kajak-Sport hatch rim is precision made for Kajaksport hatch covers. The rim is made of durable and gluable ABS-plastic. Using kajaksport covers together with this hatch rim you get the best possible water tightness and easy access to your kayak cargo space.

The 20 refers to a nominal diameter of 20cm (hole size) see below for exact dimensions

This is a rim only and designed to be fitted to a kayak that you have made, or that you wish to put a hatch onto or to replace an existing hatch rim that has been damaged or that does not fit a kajaksport hatch. It is not something that you would regularly replace because of age or wear and tear.

You will need to buy the Hatch cover separately and there are different construction options for this hatch cover (Original, Click On etc).

Fibreglass Kayaks- The rim is easily glued to fibreglass boats using the appropriate resin.

Plastic Kayaks- Fitting a hatch rim to an HDPE boat will require the use of fastenings such as nut bolts and washers and a silicon sealant e.g. sikaflex or soudal (or roof and gutter etc.)  (Use G316 grade metal fastenings and rubber backed metal washers for best results)

Fitting it to an ABS boat such as a Surge ultralight series, or Delta or barracuda brand etc. should be a simple matter of glueing with resin as per a fibreglass boat however as these all come with hatches already finding the appropriate location may be an issue.

Make sure that you have the appropriately sized spot to put your hatch- you will need a large flat area.
