The Kajak Sport Navigator Rudder has a unique concept for its deployment based on gravity and free movement. Instead of rotating the blade around an axle it slides smoothly up on to the deck (and back to the water), reducing the effort required to retract or extend it. The storage of the the blade on the deck of the kayak when not in use is similar to a flip over style (but without the effort requirements) and minimizes the surface exposed to the wind and helps kayak in storage and transport. The redesigned foil plastic blade minimizes the drag of the rudder and improves the slide. A redesigned rocker part has a simple gravity mechanism that is more reliable than any spring loaded rudder system could be. This redesign also includes an innovative locking mechanism that locks down the blade when deployed and opens automatically when lifted up. This ensures the blade will stay down in the water in high speed and rough conditions. The Locking mechanism deactivates when rudder takes contact in shallow water or any other obstacle when going forward and can be removed for hire or other conditions.
Specification: 85 mm pin is installed to a through hole in the stern of the kayak, no additional bushing sleeve is required (The pin diameter 10 mm) and it is secured with a split ring (or split pin if you prefer) It can also be fitted to gudgeon mounts externally. If you have a blind hole then the 42mm pin length is normally the better option.
