P&H’s Volan is the latest in a long line of P&H’s innovative and refined designs. Winning the prestigious Paddlesports show sea kayak product of the year in 2024. It’s the Ultimate Lightweight, Highly Versatile Day/Weekend Sea Kayak

The Volan is built specifically for those who want to make the most of day and weekend trips; tracking straight when flat, but swinging round effortlessly when on edge or carving into a turn, the Volan has comfortable performance for both the journey and any play spots you find on the way. The short, 16′ length provides ample hull speed for most adventures, and helps keep weight to an absolute minimum for nimble performance and easy handling.

This Volan is the premium light weight version. It’s Carbon Kevlar fibres are Vacuum infused with resin during construction. This construction with premium light weight strong fibres and controlled resin flow increases the durability, strength and reduces the weight over a standard lay up.

Built to be sail ready this Volan comes with deck fittings pre-installed on the reinforced deck. Included is a mast foot- see images. Setting up a sail is not a matter of installation it’s ready to go. The Seat is the upgraded “Performance Connect Seat” with hip pads to give you greater connection to the kayak helping with control in any conditions.

Hatches and Skeg are all from the premium Kajak Sport brand. The front round and rear oval cover are LRC-HT (Light Rubber Hard Top), The rear Day Hatch is a Click On model (quick push to seal) and the cockpit day hatch is from the original rubber series. All of these are chosen for their performance characteristics to suit the particular hatch’s usage, durability and weight, and make your life easier in use.

Founded in 1968, P&H quickly established a range of successful canoes and kayaks spanning various disciplines, with standout models such as the Phazer slalom kayak, and the MKII Surfer still being fondly remembered today. Producing the Orinoco under licence from Pyranha in 1975 was the beginning of an enduring relationship between the companies, and several more of Pyranha’s models were produced under licence by P&H in the following years. It was in 1979 that P&H produced its first sea kayaks (the same year that current Production Manager, Perran Shreeve joined the company), namely the ‘Umnak’ and ‘Icefloe’ designed by Derek C. Hutchinson. In the mid-90s the Capella set the benchmark for polyethylene sea kayaks, followed by the composite Capella in 1997; a few years later in 2003 Dave Patrick retired, selling the company to Pyranha who continue P&H’s heritage to this day through world-renowned models such as the Cetus and Aries.
