Tektite SOSeFlare 5.0 Kit- with Flag and Whistle

New regulations* in Western Australia require paddlers to carry a flare when 400 metres off shore, (and a PLB). That’s actually not that far to paddle (a lot further to swim). Penguin island is further from the shore than this. Paddling from one point across a bay to another typically is further from the beach than 400 metres. This electronic torch fulfils the requirements for the flare. What’s more it doesn’t need replacing every few years (new batteries every 10 years  that you can fit yourself), and is safer to use and store than chemical flares.

This KIT version includes at Distress Flag is for signalling during daylight hours. It can be attached to the mast, antenna, or hoisted to the highest point on the vessel. Alternatively, it can be waved by hand, tied to a boat hook, paddle, or fishing rod, or laid flat on the deck to attract the attention of aircraft. To display the flag correctly, show with the black square over the black circle.
