This quick yet forgiving design is extremely popular with clubs and individuals for both training and competition. It has also proved a favourite for multi sport events.
The Wavehopper is an old favourite form events like the Avon descent in WA. And it’s endorsed by most Federations in the UK for use in competition. The British Canoe Union’s Wavehopper Challenge has been established to grow participation in whitewater racing and shows the excitement that the sport can offer. In Australia there are downriver series for paddling in many states that require downriver category kayaks and cater for everyone from the beginner learning to those who compete at the world cup. The wavehopper is an ideal boat for these races, and often there is a specific class for “wavehoppers” although you can also enter unrestricted.
