Wilderness Systems Orbix Round Hatch Pre-2015 with Hardware

This is a complete replacement round Orbix hatch for Wilderness Systems kayaks made before 2015. Can be used for new custom hatch installations on any kayak with the allowable deck space. Outside diameter is 9.75 inches (not including the hinge). The working opening (Iid) is approximately 8 1/4 inches. Deck cut-out approximately 8 9/16 inches. From the center of the 3 O’Clock screw to the center of the 9 O’Clock screw is 9 3/16 inches. Kit includes hatch, foam rubber deck gasket and mounting hardware. Note this originally was installed with the foam gasket under the rim however you may be better served by using clear silicone sealant under the rim/flange. Foam rubber gaskets will compress over time and fail. Also if you kayak is older you may find the fit is not as good as a new kayak so silicon has the ability to fill larger gaps than the included foam gasket.

Note:

It best not to replace this model (pre 2015/ older hatches) with the newer (2015 on) version as they are not the same fit and decks were modified for the newer version.

Not compatible with the orbix round hatch bucket.

To tell which round orbix 8 inch hatch you are replacing if you are unsure of the age of your kayak, in this version the screws holding the rim on are partially visible where as the later model the screws are completely hidden by the hatch cover when it is closed.

May also be used as a new custom hatch for any make and model of kayak with appropriate deck space.
