Wilderness Systems Orbix Oval – Inner Foam Gasket

This is a Wilderness Systems replacement gasket for Orbix oval hatch common on older Wilderness Systems kayaks.

There are 2 versions of the oval orbix hatch- one kind uses this gasket seal, the other kind (made post 2015) does not have a gasket seal instead uses an interlock hard plastic method. If you can’t easily see the foam seal right on top of the hatch rim you have the newer version.

This Gasket seals the hatch Cover against the hatch Rim. Made of one long piece of foam rubber, approx. 44 x 0.5 x 0.25 inches.

Instructions are not included.

However to install  you basically pull the old foam out may need a finger nail or something thin to catch an end then it will just pull out easily (Old foam can often be reinstalled upside down for a few more years of wear without replacing)
To install Start with both ends touching and seat in the groove on the underside of the hatch lid – no glue required. Best not to start with one end and feed around as this can more easily result in a gap

Suites older model Orbix Oval Hatch type.
This hatch gasket does not fit the 2015+ model year kayaks because the seal has changed and does not require this gasket.

This gasket seals the hatch rim to the hatch lid- it does not effect the seal between the rim and the deck. If your hatch is leaking between the rim and the deck you will need to take the hatch and rim off and reseal or replace. Replacement cam levers are also available if it is not sealing but the gasket is ok
