Mad River Canoe Yoke 40 inch Ash Stained- Spare Part 102 cm

Mad River’s Ash Wood Yoke makes carrying your canoe more comfortable. Used as a replacement part, or as an upgrade for many canoes. Straight grained northern white ash is strong yet has a bit of flex to make carrying your canoe more comfortable. The Natural Stained Finish is under exterior varnish. You can easily cut to length for proper custom fit.

Yokes attach to canoe gunwales (sides) at the balance point of the canoe when it is upside down. The Yoke has a cut out so you can balance the canoe upside down on your shoulders for carrying without hitting your head (in the same way an ox might tow a plow or someone might carry pails of water in a ye olde type vignette). So yokes help with carrying but also add rigidity to you canoe so it stays the same shape.
This is the version with a darker stain applied to the wood.
Hardware sold is separately, (See thwart yoke hardware kit) but you can often reuse original hardware if replacing and existing Yoke.
