Mad River Canoe Yoke Natural Ash 40 inch (102 cm)

Mad River’s Ash Wood Yoke makes carrying your canoe more comfortable. Used as a replacement part, or as an upgrade for many canoes. Straight grained northern white ash is strong yet has a bit of flex to make carrying your canoe more comfortable. This is a Natural Finish (not stained) is under exterior varnish. You can easily cut to length for proper custom fit.

Yokes attach to canoe gunwales (sides) at the balance point of the canoe when it is upside down. The Yoke has a cut out so you can balance the canoe upside down on your shoulders for carrying without hitting your head (in the same way an ox might tow a plow or someone might carry pails of water in a ye olde type vignette). So yokes help with carrying but also add rigidity to your canoe so it stays the same shape.
