Mad River Wooden Seat Trusses are made of Ash and are used to connect the (Wooden) Seat to the gunwales on canoes with wooden canoe seats. This refined curved seat hanger is great for home built wooden canoes as well as a replacement for worn hangers. Made by Mad River it will fit other brands where the seat had the appropriate distance between the front and rear to fit the holes predrilled in the Truss.
Each Seat Truss is a one piece unit (sold as a pair) made of wood that suspends the from the gunwale seat lower in the canoe , providing increased stiffness, strength, and efficiency and stability. (It can be used in place of separate seat tubes adding stiffness and styles.)
Made of Ash this truss provides 4 inch (10cm) drop from the underside of the gunwales but can be shortened for a higher seating position. Supplied unfinished they can be stained to match existing trim. Synthetic version is also available
Screw Holes are 8.25 inches on centre and 3.5 inches deep.
Sold as a pair to hang one seat (left and right).
Supplied without mounting hardware sold separately, but you can often re-use the original metal fittings (nuts, bolts, washers etc )
A set of mounting hardware with appropriate G316 Stainless parts as well as finishing kit to avoid sharp edges is available, but not supplied with this item.
