This P-Clip or tube clamp is a simple way to attach skeg and rudder tubes to a kayak (normally under the deck) .
These tubes are used to route rudder steering cords or cables through the inside of a kayak making the steering more precise by removing slack and keeping them out of the way – of things stored in deck i.e. inside a hatch (normally tubes are mounted high under the deck), Tubing is also used to avoid water leakage into bulkheaded areas that steering lines may pass through.
May also be used for wiring.
The tube clamp is easy to retrofit or fix a broken clip that was originally used. It can be attached usually with a screw or rivet (M4 or #8 is a common size screw).
This clip goes around the Tubing making a P shape securing the tubing firmly. The tubing can only be removed by undoing the fastening (Screw) or if loose enough pulled through so the end passes through the closed loop.
It is better to be the correct size or loser to avoid pinching the tube and constricting any cable that runs through it.
This will fit a 6.3mm or 1/4 inch external diameter tube or cable bundle.
