Pyranha have been designing and producing innovative whitewater kayaks for over 50 years, but 2022 brought a project which called for them to invest perhaps the most time and energy yet into its testing and development – the Rip-R Evo 2; while their competitors were trying to match the performance of the original Rip-R Evo, they were setting the bar even higher.

Rip-R Evo 2 F has all the features of the Rip-R Evo kayak cross racing white water kayak but also features fins which give extra grip, especially in eddy turns, and are a huge advantage on the ramp, minimising contact points for far less friction, and acting as a pivot point to help you lift the nose higher and get a drier, more directionally focused landing. Available in 3 sizes.
Designed for the Kayak cross discipline as seen at the Olympics and World Championships. This evolved design is ideal for this discipline but is suitable for other purposes.

Important Notes:
The Rip-R Evo 2F is a performance design, consisting of a lightweight shell and fittings, with finely-tuned and carefully shaped hull features – it is not intended for use above Grade 3, and seal launching down steps or paddling low-water rivers are strongly discouraged.
Pyranha have tested the injection-moulded handles fitted as standard up to a breaking strength of around 500kg. Although this is far beyond the breaking strength of plastic handles used by other manufacturers on their general purpose whitewater kayaks, they strongly recommend upgrading to their Drop-Forged, Anodised Aluminium Grab Handles for regular use on natural rivers, where you may heavily rely upon the integrity of the attachment points during a rescue.
Pyranha view the Rip-R Evo as their Apollo program; the fittings will continue to evolve, and the sizeable weight of time and effort we have poured into the design processes of both the fittings and the hull will influence projects beyond the confines of Kayak Cross

Peaked Deck
Peaked front deck to shed water efficiently
Sculpted Front Deck
Sculpted front deck sidewalls to ease paddle entry and allow you to place strokes closer to the boat deck
Deflective Ramp
A deflective ramp just in front of the cockpit to redirect water over the cockpit rim and prevent it slowing the boat down.
Thigh Grips
Stiffer moulded thigh grips for more precise control.
National Spec Outfitting
Features a rope and cleat backrest with mechanical advantage and redirection, so you’re leaning forward as you tighten it, allowing you to dial in optimal posture support.
Back Deck Volume
Careful shaping of the back deck volume for a smooth slice and a boosting ‘pop’ out of gate turns.
Stepped Area on Tail
Stepped area around and back from the stern handle to enable the tail to be even easier to engage.
Bow Wave Deflectors
Bow wave deflectors to help keep your face and the bow of the boat dry, both when landing off the ramp and when headed downstream through features.
Main Rails
The main rails also act as a secondary wave deflector step which is more active when paddling and adds to the primary wave deflectors to balance out the roundness of the main section of the hull, ensuring enough lift is generated when landing off the ramp or going through an eddy
Rounded Hull
A rounded main hull section extends the waterline length and parts the water at the bow so the boat can cut through with maximum efficiency.
Grip and control through gates and turns
The main rails extend back through the first two thirds of the boat length for grip and control through gates and turns, but fade out towards the tail so it is easy to slide and cut around without being locked in.
Recurve on stern rocker
Recurve in the stern rocker helps control the lift at the bow to keep it down so the maximum waterline length engaged when sprinting.

PLASTIC
Making significant developments every year and working at the forefront of polymer technologies means that the most up to date polymer alloy is always used in the production of your kayak. The polymer alloy creates a balance between impact resistance, allowing bounce and shock absorbency and stiffness to create a safety cage around you and give the best hull performance.
Additives are used to help knit these polymers together, give UV and weather protection, prevent colour fade and protect the plastic during processing and throughout the life of the kayak. This means that your Pyranha Kayak will stay stronger and looking good for longer.
PROCESSING AND PRODUCTION
Pyranha’s production facility including custom built more energy efficient ovens are the most advanced in the industry allowing them to truly get the best performance out of the plastics they use.
First in the industry to develop the computer controlled molding process, Pyranha have continued to evolve the rotomoulding process since 1983. They have been producing variable thickness kayak shells for 26 years optimising performance and weight and maximising durability and safety.
TESTING AND QUALITY CONTROL
Keeping high standards of quality is a top priority at Pyranha and every effort is made to ensure each boat that leaves the factory is tough enough to be used in the harshest conditions. Since 1995 every plastic development and new colour has been independently tested for impact and toughness and the quality control process exists throughout the whole manufacturing process.
ENVIRONMENT
Pyranha have been industry leaders in energy efficiency for many years and their new factory has given a 25% reduction in gas usage due to the best heat retention systems and lowest energy utilization per kayak, making them the most progressive rotomoulders in the industry.
They've been regranulating and recycling their waste polyethylene since the mid 90s - way before most companies even thought about their environmental impact. Pyranha recycle all waste polyethylene from both roto moulding and vacuum forming and also recycle all waste cardboard, paper and plastics. Pyranha actually use some of their seat and backrest supplier's foam waste from making 'body armour' (rugby and football) to package the ends of Pyranha kayaks.
OUTFITTING
The outfitting in your kayak is vital to your comfort, safety and overall performance on the water. Pyranha’s outfitting systems have been developed over the last 40+years and incorporate the adjustability and security you demand from a white water kayak. Their outfitting coupled with the variable thickness hull structure of the kayaks shell create a safety cage around you.
