This is a single Soft Neoprene Hatch Under Covers, to fit the Stern rear oval hatch (behind the cockpit) of a Q Kayaks sea kayak.

Front neoprene covers are no longer in production and have been replaced by a hard “rubber” style cover.

Neoprene covers go under looser fit hard hatch over covers that are secured with external straps. The neoprene provides a waterproof seal to these bulkheaded compartments whilst the hard hatch protects the neoprene from implosion, popping off (in the sun etc) and wear.
This is the larger Oval cover (The smaller 19 cm round neoprene cover is currently not available). This cover suits the larger rear oval found on Q Kayaks. It is made to suit the Q Kayaks range of kayaks that are now made by Mission and will not fit Mission branded Kayaks with a similar system.

Covers to fit mission kayaks are sold as a set and are available models are contour series, ecobezhig, econiizh (The Econiizh tandem has 3 covers one extra over the ecobezhig).

Q Kayaks have ceased operations and in house kayak production in 2017. Q kayaks are now made by Mission- still in New Zealand. They are the same Q kayaks models from the same moulds etc and with the same hatches.

Mission

Mission Kayaking was the first plastic kayak manufacturer down under and has for 30 years now been refining designs and manufacturing purely NZ made kayaks and kayaking accessories.

Q Kayaks

In 2017 Q-Kayaks stopped manufacturing kayaks and closed it's factory in Ashhurst. Since closing production of Q Kayaks, kayaks was taken over by Mission Kayaks and these kayaks are still made in New Zealand. Many OEM spare parts are still available but not all.
Located in Ashhurst, New Zealand, just a stone's throw from the picturesque Manawatu Gorge, Q-Kayaks was the largest kayak manufacturer in the Southern Hemisphere and its kayaks are used around the globe. Q-Kayaks specialised in producing specialised kayaks for recreation, sea, white-water and competition. As the company produced only kayaks, its team is vastly experienced and it has the latest, purpose-built equipment; very precise control of wall thickness and strength can be achieved in the moulding of every craft. Company Director Max Grant, a former national representative in both slalom and flat-water kayaking, has designed Q-Kayaks' entire product range, combining his vast knowledge of kayaking and typical kayaking conditions with his own international experience. Many of the team at Q-Kayaks are actively involved in the sport of kayaking and assist with the kayak tours and instruction courses run by Q-Kayaks. The company was established in the 1970s as a fibre-glassing factory, which specialised in producing top quality competition kayaks for New Zealand's top slalom and flat-water competitors. In the early 1980s, Q-Kayaks expanded its factory to include the machinery needed to produce the more durable polyethylene "plastic fantastic" kayak. In 2002, Q-Kayaks expanded again, installing a third kiln, which enabled it to virtually double production.
