Surge Rudder Sleeve with bar (Metal Insert)

This sleeve will pop straight into the inset hole and has a tab on it that is used to secure the sleeve to the kayak. (Often using a small self tapping screw but may be resined in on composite kayaks).

This sleeve will allow the rudder to be locked on the kayak and stop it popping off. This is done via narrowing in the sleeve combined with a cut out in the rudder pin. Rotating the rudder (beyond it’s normal range of motion) will allow the cut out to line up with the narrowing allowing the pin to be inserted or removed, otherwise the pin will be retained by the sleeve.

This sleeve will fit the Surge Drummer and Snapper skis. Ski’s by other brands including Baysport, Liker and other brands are also compatible . It can also be used if you wish to inset it into a composite kayak (fibreglass, kevlar, carbon fibre, etc.) either as a retrofit or as part of construction of a new kayak.

The Smart Rudder Trailing rudder as well as Perception/ Wilderness Systems Mid pin rudder rear assemblies we stock are compatible with this sleeve.(See Below)

Does not come with retaining screw (not always required)- we suggest if required the use of a small self tapping G316 Stainless Steel
