Spirit’s Surf Ski Rudder Rear Assembly comes with all the bits that attach to the back of your Spirit Surf ski including the mounting plate,
This Rudder rear assembly is commonly used on Spirit Surf Skis looking for an upgrade in turning (including the double versions).
The Rudder blade measures 35 cm long for better contact and turning especially in rough water where the rear of the ski is out of the water.
This is the largest of the 3 common Spirit Blade sizes (also larger than the standard Finn Kayak Blade) otherwise it is identical to the other size rudder rear assemblies.
This Completely replaces the rear section of an existing Spirit Rudder (not the cables and footrests). The plastic construction is especially suitable to replace Metal Rudder assemblies which tend to affect the carrying and loading of the kayak by being heavy as well as sagging and developing slop over time.
This rudder part is assembled and comprises the XL Blade, Blade housing (with shock cord, swivel plates screws etc all installed), Deck mounting plate (gudgeon mount) attached to the rudder box with bushing and stainless steel fittings and plastic cover over the bolt.
Does not include the screws to mount the plate to the kayak’s deck.
The mounting (gudgeon) plate has holes that fit the inset nuts moulded into the Spirit kayaks like the CTR, PRS, Doubles and Racing Ski that could be factory fitted with a rudder..
The Finn kayaks e.g. Endorfinn, Multisport and Molokai use a different size mounting plate due to different inset nut spacing and a different rudder blade. These are available separately but apart from that is an identical fitting (this blade will also work on Finn kayaks).
Some older model kayaks may not have inset nuts- this rudder may still be used but will need alternate fixing methods.
Also available in different size rudder blades. Individual components are also available (Blade, Mounting Plate, Shock Cord, Rear assembly without blade etc.)
