Sold in 10cm increments this heat shrink will suit most kayak paddle shafts. Commonly used to cover the transition between paddle blade and shaft (2-4cm length normally),over paddle grip locators (20-30cm per locator) or as shaft covering in the hand positions. Because of this you will typically need to order more than 1 (10cm) for hand grips but only 1 if just covering shaft/blade joins. The length you order will ship in one continuous length. It is cut from the roll to the length specified in your order (it won’t ship as a number of individually cut 10cm lengths).
This shiny paddle shaft cover is plain (no logos) and can also help with rough shaft surfaces as well as moderating the temperature of alloy shafts (that can get hot or cold)
The material this shrink is made of is thin so it will not change the overall circumference of your shaft significantly.
This heat shrink will not fit over most joiners so is suitable for paddles that are being made from scratch (or without joiner fitted yet) and usage only on the side without the joiner (spigot side).
The heatshrink measures 59 mm new top to bottom (unshrunk and flat) and will shrink easily to below 26mm diameter (Most paddles are 28-30mm diameter)
We recommend (when fitting over a locator) that you secure the locator with a dab of glue or tape before covering with the heat shrink so there is no possibility of the locator rotating even under heavy load.
Be careful with application of heat, to much heat can damage paddles (blades, shafts and glue holding them together). Excessive heat can also cause heat shrink to “blow out” especially when used on alloy shafts.
We recommend care when shrinking
We suggest avoid using heat guns (instead use hot water) and being careful not to overheat any one area.
